Back in 1986, my mom bought me my first guitar which was a cheap Hondo combo set. I
practiced on that until a local guitar teacher in town gave me lessons and sold me his Fender
Stratocaster that i still have to this day. I started off learning by war and then again lessons from
the local guitar until i took a guitar class in high school and then moved on to a jazz and music
theory class the following year. By 1988, i was in my first band called S.M.O. where we played
crossover hardcore metal.
What is the project you are most proud of?
The project I am most proud of is the TAKE OFF album where I did everything on that record
myself. I wrote, performed, & recorded the album all by myself. It started off with just one song
until my friend said...WHY DON'T YOU DO A WHOLE ALBUM BY YOURSELF?...so I did
and it came out better than I thought it would. The song CRUISIN' is a milestone for me. It was
the first song I did by myself and I feel it represents my writing and playing style perfectly.
What kind of plans do you have for your future?
I am currently in college pursuing a degree in music education with the emphasis on classical
guitar. I am also going to continue writing and releasing my own stuff and not worry about the
style. I want to release an acoustic album...a blues album and an electronic album. All in due
time as i have a lot on my plate but it will happen.
If someone asked for advice on following your dreams, what advice would you give them?
With whatever your dreams or goals are my advice is this. Set yourself up with some small
goals that lead to the bigger picture or what you want. If music is your dream.... Practice daily....
Practice writing songs and working out your chords.... Then add in separate parts and solos if
needed. Everything takes time. Take no shortcuts because you will do yourself an injustice
