Well, writing has always been a thing for me. I remember getting a C on a paper because my teacher said I was being too descriptive! Imagine that! so I decided to channel all that creative energy into songwriting. I usually write songs by writing some music first then finding a place of inspiration, then things start a flowin' (: A lot of different things inspire me. I like to hear about other people's stories, and sometimes that makes me want to write. One song I wrote was completely based off of a joke my friend told me!
Any Songs You Have Written That Hold An Extra Place In Your Heart? And If So, Why?
Asking me to pick my favorite song is like asking me to pick my favorite child (maybe a little easier) (; I have a song that I really really love called "Jack in the Box." I don't know if it's the chord progression or the way the lyrics just kind of came out of me when I wrote it, but I always love when I play that song! Which is good because I get sick of songs really fast so this one has stuck by me the longest (: haha.
What Are Your Thoughts On The Recording Sessions?
I love recording! Being in the studio for me is like a kid getting locked in a candy shop, and can't come out until he finds the best treats! Although it gets very tedious at times, it is definitey worth it when you see the product you get out of it.
What About The First Show You Played, Any Memories?
Oh goodness, let's see. The first show I played was at a place in Amarillo, Texas called "Cowboy Gelatos." It was a tiny little cafe in downtown Amarillo and I played a two hour set with some of my best friends. It was a great way to start off my music career. (:
So Far, What Has Been Your Best Live Experience?
My best live experience would probably have to be when I played for a small group of fans in Charleston, South Carolina. We were all working on a movie set together and we just decided to go to the beach one day. I set on this beautiful island and played them a few songs! It is definitely one of my favorite memories.
My favorite colors would have to be blue-green (I know, those are two colors, but I just can't decide! haha) and purple.
I LOVE ITALIAN! words cannot express my love for italian food, and I'm suprised I haven't written a song about it yet. (;
Any Memories Of The First Concert You Attended?
The first concert I ever went to was to see Ben Howard, who I absolutely ADORE. Haha he's such a great musician, and once you see him live, it makes you fall in love with him so much more than you thought you could! haha. I admire what he is doing in his genre.
Any Bands/Artists You Enjoy Listening To That People Might Find Surprising?
Not many people know this but my first instrument is violin. So that means I listen to a lot, I mean A LOT of classical music. Whether it be to fall asleep or do homework, I've got some Paganini or Vivaldi cranked up. I even have a playlist called "awesome orchestra pieces" haha.
So What Do You Have Planned For Next Year?
Well, starting early next year I hope to start recording my EP and I'm going to be playing a lot more shows. I also hope to be the winner of Artists in Music Award's best folk/acoustic artist category (:
What Do You Want To Say To The Fans?
You guys are awesome! I don't know where I would be if I didn't have people listening to my music (: you complete me haha. I hope to see a lot of you very very soon!
