The songwriting process is always different. Sometimes I'll hear the chorus melody and write the music around that. Other times I'll strum a few chords on the acoustic guitar and sing a melody over that, whatever flows naturally and feels right. I'm inspired by day to day experiences like love, death, relationships, etc. Wherever passion takes me. I like to write about things that are relatable on a universal level. Also I'm very inspired by cinema and nature. Surreal images and imagination never fails.
Any Songs You Have Written That Hold An Extra Place In Your Heart? And If So, Why?
Every song I write has a place in my heart. Listening back to them and performing them live bring me back to where I was at the time, physically and emotionally.
What Are Your Thoughts On The Recording Sessions?
Recording is always a challenge. I try to push myself every time to improve vocally, instrumentally, and production wise, since I produce and engineer our music myself.
What About The First Show You Played, Any Memories?
The first show was amazing. We opened for one of my favorite bands, Dommin at The Slidebar in Fullerton, CA. The crowd was much bigger than expected and the response exceded my expectations. When I would announce each song, people actually knew them and were singing along. Till this day, that was the only show we got paid for, which was nice.
So Far, What Has Been Your Best Live Experience?
We played a gig at Boardner's in Hollywood, CA in late May of this year. The venue suited our style perfectly and I felt it was our strongest performance so far, musically and performance wise.
Black, Crimson, Amethyst
Sushi, hands down.
Any Memories Of The First Concert You Attended?
That's a tough one...my folks took me to see Blink 182 when I was in Jr. High if I am remembering correctly...I was a big fan at the time, not so much anymore though.
Any Bands/Artists You Enjoy Listening To That People Might Find Surprising?
I'm confident to say that most people that know me, are aware of my liking of broad musical genres, but a few that definitely stick out are...Florence and the Machine, Ellie Goulding, Rihanna, Katy Perry...maybe guilty pleasures but I enjoy strong recognizable female vocals.
So What Do You Have Planned For Next Year?
Next year we will be recording and releasing the new full length album. I've been talking with two different producers/engineers (Tim Palmer & Brett Chassen) about being a part of it. We are planning on working with director Matt Zane (Society 1) on the next music video for the new single. We will do our best to set up a US tour to promote the new release. One stop for sure will be Texas for the Austin Vampire Ball October 19, 2013.
What Do You Want To Say To The Fans?
I could go on and on about how much you fans mean to me, because DIMINISHED 7 would be nothing without you and your support. Dark love to you all
